Prof. (Univ. Simon Bolivar) Dr. Maria-Esther Vidal is the director of Scientific Data Management at TIB and a Senior Researcher at the research center L3S of the Leibniz University Hannover. She received her professorship in 2004 at the Computer Science Department of the University Simon Bolivar and has been a visiting professor for long- and short-term stays at the University of Maryland, the University of Nantes, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and the Polytechnic University of Barcelona. She is a principal investigator in European and national funded projects where big data paves the way for precision medicine.
